Eyes on the Prize (Maybe)

No more stalling. I'm not too much better off than I was last week, so now it's finally time to put this work to bed. I need to start policing myself more vigilantly, but now that I live alone it's easier said than done. Perhaps I will have to resort to psychological trickery.
I read in an article a few months ago that people behave better when they think they are being watched. On the surface this assertion doesn't seem to be anything groundbreaking, but it gets better. The most interesting part of the study was that researchers found that even just the image of an eye, without any actual observer, was enough to make their subjects behave better. There must be something programmed into us, either through biology or psychology, that gives the image of the eye such a powerful hold over us.
The solution to my problem, of course, is printing a giant pair of eyes to watch me from the wall across from my desk. That won't be creepy at all in the middle of the night....
